1. Go on Shpock website or something else like ebay

2. Find a "Nintendo Switch" with a clear visible serial number
If you dont see the serial number, contact the seller and ask for it
say something like "i want to see it so i can check that its a legit one"

3. Contact Nintendo, Nintendo Live Chat or Phone them say that you have
given your daughter as a present and its not working and that you never 
used it and that you heard a serial number would help

4. They should ask you for the serial number, give them the one you found 
on shpock

5. Keep going and carrying the conversation on and eventually they should 
ship you a brand new
